Jaclyn Crawford completed her Pilates certification through Polestar Pilates. Jaclyn has expertise in designing programs that incorporate clients’ specific goals and challenges as she is also a trained physical therapist who specializes in orthopedic, Oncology, and complex musculoskeletal dysfunctions. She is a Rossiter Coach and incorporates SmartSpine into her Movement Integration sessions as well.
As a dancer starting from the age of 3, Jaclyn went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in 1999 from Washington University in St. Louis in dance and theatre design. During this time and after a series of injuries, she was introduced to Pilates and physical therapy as they relate to a dancer’s specific needs. Going through various rehabilitation sessions for an unstable ankle and not feeling like her specific goals were being addressed, Jaclyn realized that she had a unique perspective that could allow her to help others in this same situation.
Jaclyn went on to complete a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in Florida where she honed her expertise in functional rehabilitation. While on clinical rotation, she was humbled to work with the Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, and the cast of Wicked. While these experiences were amazing, Jaclyn realized that her heart was being tugged in a different direction.
After moving to the Dallas area in 2006, Jaclyn began work in outpatient rehabilitation and home health helping people get back to the things that mattered in their day-to-day lives. Over the last 16 years as a physical therapist, she has completed certifications in Manual Therapy, Work Strategies, Oncology, and Craniofacial rehabilitation. She also served as an instructor and guest lecturer for the University of St. Augustine, Dallas Campus.
But something was missing. Although some continuing education came around including Pilates and rehabilitation, it was surprising that it was not largely on the mainstream radar in the physical therapy world. Jaclyn completed a comprehensive rehabilitation track in 2018 through Polestar Pilates and is not looking back!
