At Cornerstone Pilates we work as a team of advanced Pilates practitioners and Physical Therapists to create programs for clients of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels. When you work with us, you will have sessions with different teachers, all bringing unique perspectives to help you achieve your goals. We love the challenge of helping people to live their lives to the fullest whether in athletic pursuits or getting down on the ground to play with their grandkids.

Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. With systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavor, but also as an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds. We use the Pilates equipment – the Reformer, Tower, Chair, Ladder Barrel and Mat – in custom sessions designed for each individual.

The GYROTONIC® Method is an original and unique movement method that addresses the entire person by opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing the range of motion, and improving strength and movement efficiency. With GYROTONIC® exercises, each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength, and flexibility.

Rossiter System

The Rossiter System is a two-person pin-and stretch release technique that quickly restores connective tissue to its natural, healthy state. Strategic anchoring of tissue with the practitioner’s foot, while the client executes specific motions, works to loosen tight tissues with unprecedented speed, safety, and profound results. The client is fully in charge of the session, and results are generally instantaneous and profound. Pain relief, increased range of motion, improved circulation and nerve conduction are all end results of the Rossiter System workouts.

The Frederick Stretch Therapy technique treats the whole person, not just a body part. It is pain-free and uses constant circulatory, gently oscillating movements of traction and stabilization to decompress joints and expand space in the soft tissues. Beyond gaining range of motion where needed, one experiences vastly improved kinesthesia (ability to move with ease) and proprioception (sense of one’s posture both when still and in movement). Clients experience an overall feeling of wellbeing, confidence, and ease with oneself after receiving FST.

Fascial Stretch

Movement Integration

Our experienced teachers pull from a variety of these modalities in dynamic one-on-one sessions.  If you need to work out an issue with Rossiter or Fascial Stretch Therapy, we can do that and then move into a movement session with Gyrotonic or Pilates. These 80-minute sessions give us time to really work deeply with you for maximum results.

A licensed Physical Therapist will perform a comprehensive physical assessment and provide a “report card” that can be shared with medical professionals. The therapist will then create and oversee an exercise program designed to address specific needs.  The client will be re-evaluated regularly by the therapist to ensure that progress is being made toward their goals.

Smart Spine

Grounded in recent research in the field of fascia, the SmartSpine™ system uses heat and sensory feedback to create improved movement potential.  We use these products in many of our sessions to help the body to relax, lengthen and strengthen into the Pilates exercises. Clients leave sessions feeling taller, more “open” and rejuvenated.
